What are skin and tanning peptides?

GHK-Cu is the tripeptide Gly-His-Lys bound to copper. It was first found in human plasma in 1973, and lab work links it to collagen production and wound repair. SNAP-8 is an eight-amino-acid peptide studied in wrinkle research, where it competes with a protein muscles need to contract.

Melanotan I (afamelanotide) and Melanotan II are synthetic versions of alpha-MSH, the hormone that tells skin cells to make melanin. Afamelanotide is approved in the EU and US for a rare light-sensitivity disorder.

How to choose skin and tanning peptides

For skin-matrix and repair work, GHK-Cu is the main compound, and the blends add BPC-157, TB4 or KPV for labs that want them in the same vial. For expression-line research, SNAP-8 is the usual pick.

For pigmentation, Melanotan I is the more selective of the two, while Melanotan II is shorter, cyclic and acts on more melanocortin receptors.
