Description
MOTS-C 10mg from EZ Peptides is 10mg of MOTS-c in a sealed glass vial. MOTS-c is a mitochondrial-derived peptide. It’s sold for laboratory research only.
MOTS-c at a glance
MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide encoded in the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene. It was described in 2015 by Pinchas Cohen’s group at USC.
It acts on metabolism, in part through AMPK.
MOTS-c mechanism of action
Most proteins are coded in the cell nucleus. MOTS-c is one of a handful of peptides coded in mitochondrial DNA instead. Its main target looks like the folate cycle, which feeds into AMPK activation and better glucose handling in muscle.
Under stress it can move into the nucleus and change gene expression. Circulating levels drop with age in both mice and people, which is why it’s studied in metabolism and aging.

Published MOTS-c studies
Lee and colleagues reported in Cell Metabolism (2015) that MOTS-c prevented diet-induced obesity and insulin resistance in mice.
Reynolds and colleagues showed in 2021 that it improved physical capacity in young, middle-aged and old mice.

MOTS-C 10mg reconstitution and concentration
Here’s the math for 10mg of peptide:
- 1mL of diluent gives 10mg/mL
- 2mL of diluent gives 5mg/mL
- 3mL of diluent gives 3.33mg/mL
Go with whichever number is easiest to work with in your protocol, and label the vial with the concentration and the date you mixed it.
Use a sterile diluent such as our research diluent solution. Warm the sealed vial to room temperature first so no condensation gets in, add the liquid slowly along the glass wall, and swirl gently until it’s clear. Never shake.
How to store MOTS-C 10mg
Unopened, keep MOTS-C 10mg in a fridge at 2 to 8°C, or in a freezer at -20°C if it’ll be a while before you use it. Keep it out of direct light. Once mixed, keep it refrigerated and use it within about four weeks.
MOTS-C 10mg lab testing and purity
The MOTS-C 10mg photo gallery includes one independent test report from Janoshik Analytical, a lab in Prague that a lot of peptide buyers use to check suppliers. Each one lists the compound found, the measured amount and the HPLC purity, plus the batch number and the date the lab ran it.
MOTS-C 10mg is sold at a minimum of 98% purity by HPLC. The reports below show the actual figure for each batch tested.
Every Janoshik report has a unique key printed at the bottom. Enter it at janoshik.com/verify and you’ll see the same report straight from the lab, which is the easiest way to know a COA hasn’t been edited. Match the batch on the report with the batch on your label.
